Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Opobo Foundation USA when you browse the site, join as a member, or give.

Last updated: 10 August 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing the Opobo Foundation USA (OFUSA) website or member portal you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

OFUSA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization. These terms apply to visitors, members, donors, and administrators alike.

2. Membership accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information in your profile and for keeping your credentials confidential. Accounts are personal and may not be shared.

We strongly recommend enabling multi-factor authentication in the Security Centre. You are responsible for activity carried out under your account.

3. Dues, donations, and refunds

Membership dues and donations are processed through our payment provider. Donations to OFUSA are voluntary and, where applicable, tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Because contributions fund programmes immediately, gifts are generally non-refundable. If a payment was made in error, contact us within 14 days and we will review the request in good faith.

4. Acceptable use

Community boards, chat, and the family tree exist to serve the Opobo community. Do not post unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or misleading content, impersonate others, or upload material you do not have the right to share.

Moderators may hide, lock, or remove content and suspend accounts that breach these rules.

5. Heritage content and intellectual property

Historical narratives, photographs, and cultural records published here belong to OFUSA or to the families and archives who entrusted them to us. You may share them for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes with attribution.

Commercial reuse requires written permission.

6. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided on an 'as is' basis. While we work to keep historical and programme information accurate, we make no warranty that it is complete or error free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OFUSA is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service.

7. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the Foundation grows. Material changes will be announced on the site and in the member portal.
